Since May 2014, the Wittenberg Center for Global Ethics has been located in the historic Weber-House at Schlossstraße 10. The building is centrally located in the Old Town between the Market square, the Cranach Courtyard and Castle Church It is the place where Wilhelm Eduard Weber (1804-1891), the inventor of the electromagnetic telegraph and member of the Göttingen Seven, was born. The restoration of the building occured between 2008 and 2010 and was financed by the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
The Center’s employees and the scholarship recipients in the PhD program work in the first floor of the building. In the second floor, the conference room with space for up to 100 participants, an additional meeting room and the library can be found. Hence, the WCGE has access to impeccable infrastructure for the concentrated and constructive work which takes place in workshops and other meetings. For larger events, the Center still cooperates with the location of the Leucorea Foundation which used to be the Wittenberg University and was also home for the WCGE for more than 15 years.
Directions to the Weber House can be found here.
If you are coming by car, the Center can be approached via the Wallstraße, where private parking is available.
