For admissions in October 2019, the doctoral program “Ethics and Responsible Leadership in Business” will award one thematically focussed doctoral scholarship. The application deadline is December 9, 2018.
In order to promote the moral integrity of companies and to sustainably shape their value creation, ordonmics has developed a strategy matrix to identify dilemmatic structures and to find unexploited win-win-potentials. The aim of the research project “Corporate ethics for civil society organizations” is to transfer this tool of corporate ethics to the value creation behaviour of civil society organizations.
In contrast to classical companies, beneficiaries and resource providers of civil society organizations are different groups. This creates a specific governance problem: the beneficiaries can assess the quantity and the quality of the provided services, but they cannot induce the correction of mistakes through their purchase and paying behaviour. Contrawise, the resource providers can impose sanctions, but they lack the necessary access to information for reasonable interventions. This poses a major challenge for the moral integrity of civil society organizations: how can they trustworthily commit themselves vis-à-vis their resource providers to meet the needs of the beneficiaries although they lack sanction options.
Prof. Dr. Ingo Pies (Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg) supervises this project.
The scholarship includes a monthly living and research cost stipend of 1,350 Euro and a membership in the doctoral program “Ethics and Responsible Leadership in Business.”
